A Billboard that produces water!

17 March 2014

This is nothing less than a revolution generation of water from nothing but thin air (and of course the most innovative advertising technique ever!). UTECH designed a billboard that can convert atmospheric humidity into drinking water through reverse osmosis in Lima, Peru where water shortage is one of the biggest problems. Peru only gets 2 inches of rainfall every year but has an extraordinarily high humidity, which is how this technological trick led to happy faces filling buckets of water and showering under the water dispenser below the billboard!!

'India ka no ullu banoing' idea's new campaign

3 March 2014

'Idea internet lagoing, India ka no ullu banoing,' goes Idea Cellular's latest jingle. The objective of this communication is to help the idea, to grow from a mobile broadband business to a strong data network services player and at the same time demystify the concept of data services for the benefit of the larger Indian population ('Har mobile par internet'). Therefore this Ad shows consumers who're not likely to be internet-savvy, including housewives, senior citizens, rural folk and users of feature phones. The idea behind the film is that when the masses will have easy access to information, they will be less susceptible to being cheated.

Facing the tough competitions from Airtel and Vodafone, Idea has been working towards spreading awareness about 3G and mobile internet services in India for the last three years, and claims to be the only mobile operator to offer a range of self-branded, affordable 3G smartphones to upgrade 2G users to 3G.

Initially it was started as a teaser campaign, with the release of teaser banners and the 'Ullu jingle' on social media but now it has turned into a 360 degree campaign. The media mix includes TV (currently three films are on air), radio, outdoor, activation and digital (#Ullumatbano, a day-long Twitter campaign and a digital film).

The concept was developed by Lowe Lintas & Partners, India.

Centre Fresh : Yeh Wala Chwing Gum Ad

1 March 2014

Centre Fresh recently came up with their new ad campaign which pokes fun at common and familiar marketing techniques which urge consumers to use products. The film creatively connects different brands and products as a part of one story. From toothpaste to facial cream and from cement to electronic goods are presented so well that it keeps the viewers guessing about the advertisers, when suddenly at the end they finds out that it is Centre Fresh.

Center Fresh introduced its proposition of 'Zubaan pe rakhe lagaam' back in early 2007, and has been following it up on every advertisement depicting new stories each time. To promote the campaign, the brand has also launched the #YehWala Contest on Facebook and Twitter, asking users to exercise their writing skills and create a tagline under the theme 'Suraksha'. The rules of the game are simple - the tagline should start with "Yeh Wala".

Ogilvy India is the creative agency handling this campaign.

Apple's Logo Story!

The Newton Crest logo (1976-1976)

The first Apple logo was designed by Ronald Wayne, who is the third co-founder of the Apple Company in the year 1976.  It showed Sir Isaac Newton, sitting beneath the very tree from which an apple had fallen to his head and he revolutionised the laws of gravity. If one look carefully, the phrase on the outside border reads,
‘Newton… A mind forever voyaging through strange seas of thought… alone'

The Rainbow Logo: 1976-1998

The Newton Crest Logo only lasted a year before Steve Jobs commissioned graphic designer Rob Janoff to come up with something, oh I don’t know, a little bit more modern. Janoff’s eventual design would go on to become one of the most iconic and recognizable corporate logos in history. According to Janoff, the “bite” in the Apple logo was originally implemented so that people would know that it represented an apple, and not a tomato. It also lent itself to a nerdy play on words (bite/byte), a fitting reference for a tech company. As for the rainbow stripes of the logo, Steve Jobs is rumored to have insisted on using a colorful logo as a means to “humanize” the company. Janoff has said that there was no rhyme or reason behind the placement of the colors themselves, noting that he wanted to have green at the top “because that’s where the leaf was.”

This multi-colored Apple logo was in use for 22 years before it was axed by Steve Jobs less than a year after his return to Apple in 1997.

The Monochrome Logo: 1998 – Present

Placing a large rainbow Apple logo on top of the original Bondi Blue iMac, for example, would have looked silly, childish, and out of place. Not exactly the direction Jobs wanted to lead Apple in.  So instead of placing a somewhat minuscule rainbow colored Apple logo on its products, Apple began placing sizeable and Monochrome styled logos on its products in all sorts of places:  on top of the original iMac, on the side of the Powermac G3 Tower, and in an assortment of colors on the good ole iBooks.  This trend, which began in 1998, continues to this day.

Evian Baby Inside : Live Young Campaign

26 February 2014

Evian (One of the brands in Water) wanted to position their product (water) as the one that can keep adults young at heart. In order to accomplish that, they first came up with an ads which shows baby dances, which can symbolize energy and youthfulness at the same time. By focusing on that message, Evian brought its audience’s attention to a societal norm that, 'everyone wants to become young again as they gradually grow old.' In order to communicate the idea, Evian made a series of advertisements on the theme of “Live Young”.

In the print campaign that followed, Evian launch an ads which contains Eight portraits by fashion photographer Nathaniel Goldberg show adults wearing t-shirts with the screen printed image of a baby’s body, giving the impression of what they looked like as babies. Each carries a bottle of Evian.

The stars of the campaign are not models, but real people, actors chosen for their strength, their authenticity, their freshness, their diversity and their singularity. The creative stance adopted expresses their true nature as opposed to onstructing artificial characters for advertising purposes. Each model carries their bottle of evian in their own unique way, wearing their own clothes and jewellery, their individual style and their personality embodying the new strap line of the brand: “Live Young”.
The “Baby Inside” campaign was commissioned by BETC Euro RSCG Paris.
